This coin is the first issue of this new series of coins. Five coins will be issued each year until 2025, sharing a common front side and unique backside design. The general front side features a rare portrait of President George Washington, created in 1932Ā  for a coin celebrating the 200th anniversary of Washington's birth. Future designs will feature contributions from a variety of disciplines, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and art. Women who are honored will have diverse ethnic, racial, and geographical backgrounds.
