2021 was shaping up to be one of the most significant dates in coin collecting history because the U.S. Mint is changing the design of the American Silver Eagle, the best-selling and most widely collected silver coins in the world. As the covid-19 pandemic disrupted the U.S. Mint's production of Silver Eagles, to meet collector demand the Mint authorized a limited production run of bullion Silver Eagles at the Philadelphia Mint and San Francisco Mints. These three-coin sets feature a 2021 coin minted at the West Point Mint (W), and the special low mintage Emergency production coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint (P) and San Francisco Mint (S). These are the final coins issued with the beloved Heraldic Eagle reverse design.
